Becoming Lamp begins as a precise ceramic cylinder produced through 3D printing. Before firing, while the clay is still receptive, the form is pressed and reshaped by hand. Its geometry bends, contracts and responds to touch.
The piece retains the memory of the cylinder, but it no longer submits to its original perfection. What might once have been understood as deformation becomes the place where character appears.
This process mirrors a personal transformation within our work. We are learning to leave room for decisions that cannot be fully anticipated, and to understand irregularity as evidence of movement rather than error. The hand does not decorate the printed form. It changes its direction.
Custom glazes developed and mixed in our studio settle differently across every curve, reinforcing the singularity of each limited piece. Becoming Lamp is complete as an object, yet its surface and silhouette preserve the feeling of something still evolving.
Becoming is not an unfinished state. It is the freedom to remain in movement.
