Some shifts begin long before we know how to name them. Land is one of those chapters.
Created in 2019 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Poggi Ugo, the collection brought our contemporary imagination into dialogue with a material and a way of making that had endured for a century. The same hands, gestures and traditions used to shape terracotta in the past gave form to seventeen new works inspired by travel, architecture and imagined landscapes.
The collection moved between different times and places, from the Tropicalism of 1950s Brazil, Havana and California to the Postmodernism of 1970s Italy. Through that journey, terracotta became a meeting point between memory and invention, nature and artifice, history and the freedom to imagine something unfamiliar.
Revisited within Feel the Shift, Land reveals an instinct that was already present in our work: the desire to learn from what came before without remaining inside it. Its return is not a retrospective gesture. It is a reminder that creative change rarely begins at one precise moment. Sometimes we only recognize the shift after it has already carried us somewhere new.
